I'm in Carolina, but I'm sad

June 28th, 2007 at 05:13 pm

So much to tell, and so little heart to tell it. I've arrived safely in North Carolina, and I'm debt-free. The move went well, but my cat has disappeared. He is an outdoor cat, and I let him out yesterday evening, for the first time in his new surroundings. He returned in the night, so I know he knows where the kitty door is and how to use it. But he went out again this morning and hasn't been back all day. I'm so afraid he is lost or hurt. I can't think about anything else.

I should be jumping for joy, with all my debts paid off, and no job to report to. But I'm heartsick. I want my kitty.

Here's hoping your kitty is just out getting to know the area and will be home soon...

I hope your cat returns soon. If he came back once, he knows the way back. I had a cat disappear for many weeks, once, but she came home!
    Congratulations on becoming debt free.

Oh, dear. I hope he comes home! As others said, he is probably out making friends in his new digs. But, if he doesn't come back tonight, here are some tips:

If he's microchipped, please make sure the chip company has your new contact info.

If he has a collar and tags w/ your old contact info, can you check the old number or get in touch with the people who are living at your old address?

If he has a License from your previous state, contact Animal Control in your old state in case someone calls them.

Start making calls to see if anyone has turned him in: Vets, Shelters, Animal Control.

    Post an ad on Craigslist.

If your new community has an internet message board (such as a Yahoo! group), post a notice there.

    Hang up flyers.

Hopefully you won't need to do any of these things, because your kitty will be sitting on your lap purring as you read this.

And by the way, congratulations on making your dream come true!

I hope your furry little friend returns safely. Please let us know, as we are all keeping you and your kitty in our thoughts.

I hope you are able to enjoy the newness of your life...the whole no need to work, no debt thing is truly cause for celebration...there always is a bigger plan that we dont always understand.

Hugs to you for a happy future.

My grandmother lost a cat to a move from Easter WA to Western WA. The cat turned up at her old house a month later, so I would definitely contact the new owner's of your old house to be on the lookout for him.

I'm sorry this happened to you. It's hard to worry over a pet.

Thank you all so much for your concern! He DID return. Apparently, the woods around the house are so much fun, he is just really enjoying the great outdoors.

My cousin has two little dogs who don't like cats. They cornered him in the yard this morning. So I am going to have to figure out how to set up a "safe run" to the kitty door.

Whew - So glad he's okay!
