Assembly required

July 9th, 2007 at 03:27 pm

Yesterday I made a trip to Target and Best Buy. At Target I bought a TV stand. It was $53 after using my $50 gift card. At Best Buy I bought a DVD player for HDTV and and cable. My cousin paid for that.

We spent most of the afternoon trying to assemble the TV stand, and finally succeeded. It wasn't easy, though! I think it may be worth my while to stick to furniture stores for furniture. When they have good sales, the cost is not much more, the quality higher, and you don't have to put them together!

In the evening we had steaks out on the grill. It was the first time I've ever used a gas grill; I've always had a charcoal grill. It sure was easy. Afterward I had a glass of wine on the patio. I felt more relaxed and settled in than I have since I got here.

Today I have to find a place to get my hair cut. My cousin recommends her stylist -- $40 a cut! No way! My hair is very manageable and has a lot of body, so I don't need a special stylist. I just need a nice, no-frills cut.

I also have to mail back a library book that got packed with my stuff! I was able to renew it online, so I only owe a .30 fine on it (which I'll pay when I visit in August). Hopefully, the shipping won't be too much.

You should be able to mail it cheaply with the USPS - I believe they have a rate for books etc. - just ask.

I think that you have to mail it as media mail.

Aleta is correct. It is called Media Mail. Here is the rate chart.
