It's been a long time....

October 27th, 2009 at 11:44 am

And so much has happened!

I un-retired, found a job in the Chicago metro area, and moved cross country. I am near my kids again (about 40 minutes away), and pretty happy in my employment -- it's not a lot of money, and more than a little stress, but the people are all great. And it's so wonderful to have my own place again and to be in control of my own money.

Another bonus -- my son has produced another grandson for me!

My biggest challenge at present is to save money for a place to live when I REALLY retire in six years. Right now I'm living in a nice apartment, but it costs too much, and the rent will go up next year when the move-in special rate lapses. I had only one day to find it, so I'm not kicking myself for my choice, but I'll have to find something else next July.

I also have a little bit of debt to pay off from the move. I'll keep you posted!

I'm glad you found work. These are uncertain times for all of us, so welcome back, Carolina un-bound. What about your cousin? Is she gonna be ok?

My cousin is ok. Her condition will never get better, but her sister has retired and checks in on her frequently. She lives close by. My guess is that my cuz is happier by herself -- we both lived alone too long, I think, and were set in our ways.

    Welcome HOME!! I missed you.

I'm happy to know that you are settled in a good situation for yourself going forward. Congrats on the new job and getting closer to your kiddos.

On the user name, I'd bop over to the forums and email Jeffrey and ask if he or Nate could help you. They usually get back with you within a day's time.

Oh, I'm so glad you're back to posting!

Yes, yes, welcome back! Yours is one of the best blogs. We've all missed you, and there have been several comments about your absence and how we hoped you were okay. Glad you were able to find employment and that you are near your kids. Even tho the job brings stress, it's probably not as stressful as the shared finances and living arrangements in Carolina had been.

So kudos to you for picking up all over again with a new job, a new home and hopefully a very positive new chapter. Six years til re-retirement, eh? Please post your plans to get there, and what your budget will be in that phase. Inquiring minds would like to know and learn!
