Emergency room visit

September 3rd, 2011 at 01:25 pm

Yesterday my doctor advised me to go the emergency room because of the pain in my back. I was very dispirited, thinking I was going to go back for a stay in the hospital. But after they did the cat scan, they determined that the reason for the pain is a small amount of fluid that has built up outside of the lung. They released me, but I am supposed to follow up with a pulmonary specialist. However, I can't make the appointment till Monday -- maybe Tuesday, if he is closed for Labor Day.

If the fluid doesn't get re-absorbed they will have to drain it -- with a needle in the back. Yikes! Well, now that I know what it is, I will breathe more deeply and move around more. I DO NOT want a needle in the back!

My son and his family are bringing lunch today and one of my co-workers will bring dinner. I have a new prescription to fill, so there will be a Wal-Mart trip today. Woo-hoo!

Take care! I do wish you recovery was a bit faster, or at least sparing you these medical diversions. Sounds like your spirits are intact, though, and that is a good thing. Enjoy your weekend!

It's good that you went and know what is causing the pain. Best wishes for non-invasive recovery!
