Birthday dinner and a Goodwill trip

November 30th, 2011 at 01:07 pm

On Monday night I met my son at an upscale pizza place for his birthday dinner. After the tip and everything it was $43. I take out each of my kids (two sons and two DIL's) for their birthday, but I think it's time to stop. Next year I will offer to cook dinner instead. As much fun as it is to go out, it adds up, and I need to be saving more.

On the way home I stopped at Goodwill just to see if they had any tissue paper or gift tags. Of course, not. What was I thinking? I need to go to the dollar store for that. But I did find two Santa's for my collection and a lovely old crock, as well as an insulated knit hat (new). Altogether $9. Funny how I ALWAYS find something at Goodwill. Sometimes I go with my sister-in-law and she often buys nothing at all. I don't know if she is more disciplined, more picky, or more well-stocked!

Great plan to do at home dinners! And skipping Goodwill could be a good idea too, if you ALWAYS spend money there.

Oh, but I always SAVE money there. Smile
