New tires

February 29th, 2012 at 07:39 pm

Well, today I put some serious money on my Citi card. I got a flat tire, and I ended up replacing all four tires. (I knew it was inevitable -- they are old). I got some all-weathers with 85,000 mile warranty on sale for $121 apiece. Threw in an oil change, and the total bill with wheel balance, recycling fee etc. was $616.

Yesterday I charged a $20 gift card, and tonight I will charge a dinner and our honoree's dinner. (The others will pay me back in cash).

Yesterday I gave in to a McDonald's craving at lunchtime and got a double cheeseburger, shamrock shake and fries! Not good for the budget or the waistline, but things are so unsettled at work I am needing comfort food. This morning I went to the cafeteria and got a muffin even though I had a piece of quiche for breakfast! Well, the cold isn't helping either. Don't they say feed a cold? Smile

I'm really excited about dinner tonight. It's at a Mexican restaurant that's pretty special. And we have a fun group going. My only worry is that I might fall asleep at the table. I woke up at 12:30 this morning and could not fall back asleep. I am pretty sure it was only an hour or two before the alarm went off that I finally fell asleep. I didn't think I was worrying THAT much about the job, but when I slept, I dreamed I opened an email that said our VP had died suddenly. Yikes!

I forgot to send the check for the booth rental -- it's due on the first, so I had to ask my friend who lives there to do it. I'll send her a check. I hope that next time I get there, there will be a check for ME! It's been a couple of months.

I sold a couple of books on half.com this month. Both were free to me, so I'll make a little pocket change.

And I had a free lunch today for listening to a presentation on SAD disorder. Chicken salad, roll, cookie, lemonade. I think I'll make a point of transferring $10 to savings every time I get a free lunch, because it seems to be happening frequently lately!
