Daily Expenses Challenge

April 11th, 2012 at 02:46 pm

April 10

No spending

Breakfast: oatmeal w/brown sugar, coffee
Lunch: cauliflower parmesan soup, celery sticks
Dinner: sloppy joe on English muffins, roasted cauliflower (thanks, Ceejay!)
Snacks: cake at work, granola w/ skim milk, evening

I got my electric bill, and it is $20 less than usual. I have really cut down dryer use, and I am very mindful of lights, etc. More daylight helps, too.

I am worried about my gas bill. I pay it through CheckFree, and in March, although I went to the site, I apparently did not click the final "sumbit" button and it did not get paid. About two weeks later I got a new bill for about double the amount, which I paid. Now it is past the usual payment date, and I have heard nothing. I looked at the CheckFree site, and did not see any pending bill. I tried to look at the Nicor site, but I couldn't access my account without knowing my old phone number, which I just can't remember. (Since I use CheckFree for them, I never use their site.) I did go back to CheckFree and change my setting so that the bill is paid automatically. It just seems weird that the payment cycle has changed because of one late payment.

Worrisome on the bill payment. I hate stuff like that.

Usually if you miss a bill, they rebill you for the missed month, plus bill you early for the next full month and then it resumes as normal. But if you are really worried about it, call them. I am sure there is a number in the phone book or DexOnline and they can figure out what your account number is from your name and address if you don't have your account number.

I just got an email saying that Checkfree will pay the next bill on May 8, so I guess I'm back to the original billing cycle!
