I can't see anyone else' blog, either!

January 7th, 2013 at 07:57 am

But I trust it will eventually be fixed.

I've been out of the loop. I got bad news on Friday night. Well, bad for me. My son is most likely going to take a job in Florida, and my new granddaughter will be miles and miles away! I hate to be such a baby, but I cried all that night and the next day, feeling completely sorry for myself. I've got my equilibrium back now, but I'm still sad. I knew this could happen, but I was in denial.

The new job will be bundled with some additional schooling at first, so they are planning on getting a cheap apartment and living very lean. So visiting them will mostly likely mean a hotel stay for me. Add that to the airfare, and it will be a big expense on my budget. I just don't know how this is going to work out.

I'm also a little worried that he might not have medical benefits, but I was so upset I forgot to ask. I do realize that this is a step he must take in order to be fully qualifed as a helicopter pilot, and that this is his dream job. I understand, but I don't like it.

Spending this weekend:

$10 for dinner at Mexican restaurant
$4 for laundry
$332 car insurance payment (semi-annual)
$24 for groceries
$11 for cat food & kitty litter
$8 for a movie (Les Miserables) (since I was so miserable Smile)
$5 for extra keys for new front door lock
$2.50 for parking

Woo hoo, it is fixed! I can see your post AND comment on it! Smile I feel lost when SA is down.

PS, I am SO sorry to hear about your granddaughter moving away!

I'm sorry. It was hard on my parents when we moved further away. They can still drive to see us. I hope you can find great deals between the two places, and maybe you can sleep on the floor/air mattress when you visit.

Looks like you better start budgeting for plane tickets. And I mean that literally. Not sure what part of FL they will be living in, but I can tell you that Allegiant out of Rockford works quite well, and is relatively inexpensive.

(I have family in WI, and I am in Tampa, so they have taken the Rockford-St.Pete leg a couple times.)

That might work well, actually. They will be in Clearwater, and Rockford is not too far away.

I'm feeling empty nest blues as both DSs are in university at the other end of the country. It's too expensive and they have PT jobs making it impossible to return for holidays. We've used SKYPE and talk more than when they were in Community College.

I too recommend the airbeds which self inflate & are comfortable short term for your visits. It's so important for us to encourage and support our children's career aspirations much as we'd prefer to keep them nearby.

    Pretty funny movie comment!

Very cool. Tell them to enjoy Clearwater! I love it here. The St Pete airport is probably 15 miles from downtown Clearwater.
