My knee, the snow, and a sad vigil

March 6th, 2014 at 02:45 pm

My knee continued to hurt yesterday and all night I tossed and turned because I couldn't get comfortable. When the alarm went off I was super-tired and fell back to sleep. I awoke again not too much later, but late enough that I couldn't catch the train.

Driving, however, was not easy, either. My car was buried from the snowfall earlier in the week. It was covered with snow AND ice, so I had to sweep and scrape. Plus, the snowplow had pushed snow up against the wheels. I was afraid I would be stuck, but I got out first try. Gotta love an SUV.

I parked in a free space here at work, but I have to move the car in six hours to avoid a ticket. Maybe I'll take a ride at lunchtime. Maybe do a quick check of Goodwill!

I have physical therapy again tonight, so I repeated the earlier plan of buying breakfast, and packing lunch and dinner. This time I spent a little more on breakfast - $7 - but it was a hardy meal and should hold me through the morning. I used my new BOA credit card. Only $493 more to spend! I need to check on how much time I have to do that.

My cousin's best friend is dying of brain cancer. I got an email this morning saying she wouldn't last through the weekend. I am so sad. She is a vibrant, optimistic person, full of life, as they say. It doesn't seem possible that she can be cut down like this. Brain cancer is great killer. There has been too much of it touching people in my life, though thankfully, no one in the immediate family.

I think I may go to the Race for Hope in DC this May and walk in memory of my friends. I am feeling the need to do that.

I'm so sorry to hear about your cousin's friend! I just lost a college friend to throat cancer last month, and it has really hit me hard. Even though she wasn't one of my closest friends, she was like your cousin's friend -- so brash and funny and full of life. I can't stop thinking about how much more time she should have gotten, and how much more time her kids should have gotten to spend with her.

As to the BofA card, if it's the same as the one I applied for, you have 90 days.

My cousin's friend passed away yesterday. Her life was cut short but she lived well, with all her heart. She will be missed.
