After waiting most of the day for a plumber to show up or call, I called the property manager to ask if one was indeed coming. The person I talked to didn't seem to know. She gave me a number to call, but I could only leave a message there.
Finally I decided I had to call an outside plumber if I was going to get it fixed. I did, but they couldn't schedule an appointment till the following day. I texted work and told them the situation, but no sooner had I done that, than the property manager called and gave me the number of a person on-site who does some handyman work for them. He answered the call, and he came, and he fixed it for $15. Hallelujah!
I don't think this person works for the manager in a professional capacity, because he asked for cash. When I didn't have it, and offered to write a check, he asked me if I would get cash and tape it to my door (in an envelope). I left him a twenty this morning, since I was so grateful someone finally did something! I do hope no one else gets it! Only the building residents have access to the hallways and stairwells, but I don't know who is to be trusted anymore.
He replaced a part, so I am hoping that this will not happen again. If it does, I have his number!
As I was home all day yesterday, there was no other spending, so nothing else to report! Later I will post my May recap.
Resolved!
