June Recap

July 1st, 2014 at 01:49 pm

It was a high-spending month -- and there were reasons....

Vacation/Travel - $917
Housing - $677
Furnishing/Equipment/Decor - $394
Insurance - $219
Gifts/Charity - $167
Groceries - $165
Fares/Parking - $139
Medical/Health - $130
Utilities - $119
Eating Out - $94
Phone - $51
Gas - $49
Household Supplies - $28
Laundry - $14
Entertainment - $8
Vet/Pet Supplies - $5
Personal - $4
Clothing/Accessories - $3

Grand Total - $3183

The vacation cost includes the hotel rooms for next month, and the money I spent hosting a guest. I feel like it's a vacation when I have guests, so that's where I count it.

The F/E/D spending was mostly for the three air conditioners. Now it seems I may be returning one for a refund and not replacing it. My son is getting me one from his cousin. So if that happens, I'll make an adjustment.

Car insurance is a semi-annual cost.

Gifts -- two birthdays this month, plus a little charity.

Medical -- mostly a doctor bill, paid through Flex Spending, but I still count it. It's still my money.

Eating Out was a bit high. Summer always seems to be a challenge that way -- more running around, less incentive to heat up the kitchen.

Everything else was in line or low.

July will have some challenges. There will be the wedding weekend with its associated travel. The property tax bill will come soon. The heat will jack up electricity costs.

I found .02 yesterday and got a free lunch. Today I bought a muffin in the station and then learned that there will be pastries at a meeting this morning. Darn! I keep doing that.

I caught up on my sleep last night and it was lovely, despite the storms all night! No damage done, and today's it's beautiful and cool.

Heard Chicago got quite a bit of rain. Glad you had no damage.

We have some months that are more spendy than others too.
