Exciting development!

August 1st, 2014 at 06:19 am

The other day I got an email from an old boss -- not the one I've been talking about who went to the museum, but another one. The email merely said, "I have an idea. Let's set a time to talk."

I didn't think much about it, but when she called, it was to talk about a job! Not just any job -- this would be the best job I ever had! Now, of course, this is only talk -- I will have to go through the process, and compete with others, but the bottom line is, I am going to meet with her and the person who would be my immediate supervisor at the end of August for an informal chat. The job is not posted yet. It would be working as an assistant director at a very large and respected university -- still within commuting distance. The salary would be a $30K increase for me!

I'm afraid to hope, but this would be a life-changer for me. I would have to work for four more years, but I would be ending my career on a high note. I wouldn't have to scrape so much. I could beef up my retirement fund and pay off my mortgage. Even more, I would be able to do the work I was trained to do, and be proud of my position.

I can hardly believe I have TWO irons in the fire. I guess I am not meant to retire! But the beauty of my current position is, even if both fall through, I can still proceed with my original plan and retire next August.

I'm going to be impatient all month!

Isn't it great to have this prospect? I mean-- not only might it be significantly more money, but what an ego boost to know that someone has that kind of confidence in you.
