Carnage

November 14th, 2015 at 03:16 pm

That's what they are calling the attacks in Paris. How shocking, and sobering at the same time. I can't understand how ONE person could be a cold-blooded murderer, much less how there is an extensive network of people who join the club because they delight in the kill. Oh right, and because their religion demands it. Yeah. Disgusting.

I picked up my car yesterday, and it is BEAUTIFUL! It is spic & span, inside and out. It was expensive, but I'm so glad I did it. The total cost was $3,411. The extra $400 was for bumper replacements and a few parts, like the gizmo that holds the antenna. I charged it to Discover, so I should get some decent cash back.

Before the retreat, I made a quick stop at the grocery to buy quarters, and also got some kitty litter and a birthday card for my grandson. ($10)

The sandwich I ordered for the retreat was so big, I took half of it home and ate it for supper. So that was a free lunch and supper. I was lucky enough to find free parking, too.

Today I'm doing laundry, and going back to the grocery for food. I'll have to get gas, too.

At noon, my new cat will be delivered by the foster caretaker. So it might be an interesting afternoon! Smile Hoping they will resolve their inevitable territorial issues quickly.

Today's menu:

Breakfast: French toast, apple
Lunch: Chili, cornbread
Dinner: Sloppy joes, veggies

Paris is devastating. Having been there many times it breaks my heart to see what is happening. I have friends there who are all safe but it is still sad and frustrating.

It is important to note that religion does not advocate this behavior. In a lecture in a terrorism training I heard the instructor say that the terrorists that cause havoc and claim it on religion are no better than the KKK in the US. Religious fanaticism is the same the world over. This is a misrepresentation of Islam. I have friends, neighbors and colleagues who are Muslim and they are just as horrified as we are.

There is absolutely no religious reason for these actions.

Glad you got your car back. Hopefully the commute to work is much easier now and just in time for the winter weather.

I agree with Kiki, my thoughts on ISIS is that they are simply a death cult and should be viewed separately to Islam. Paris is simply shocking - just as shocking as 9/11, my thoughts go out to the French people..

Very happy to hear you are so pleased with the car!! And hope you enjoy time with the new kitty Smile

Maybe you can buy some Feliway spray or dab some lavender oil on their skins so they mellow out and can't smell each other so much. Late autumn is a good time to welcome a new kitty into the house: you can keep the indoor temperature low and encourage them to find comfort in each other's warmth.

I hope it is understood that I was being sarcastic. Of course their behavior has nothing to do with genuine religion. It makes me even madder that they invoke religion as an excuse for their depravity.

The whole situation with ISIS is horrifying and sickening. Not just the madness of their actions/rhetoric, but how some people are judging all Muslims / people from those countries as similar mindset. It's like after 9/11 when one of my coworkers told me that she wouldn't get on a plane if she saw someone who looked like a Muslim ... or she'd cross the street if she saw one coming her way ... This was a good, educated, Christian woman (Filipino by birth) but unfortunately let fear overtake good sense.

I'm glad you have your car back and that it was really well done!

CB I understood you were being sarcastic. It's very unfortunate when any person/group uses religion as an excuse for sickening behaviour.

The whole thing in Paris is horrific. Why people want to murder innocent people is beyond me.
