Paid!

December 10th, 2015 at 02:14 am

Got my check, got 9 more hours done. Only 77 hours to go, and I have thirteen non-holiday weekdays to do it in. Oh man, that's still 6 hours a day. Guess I mistakenly counted New Year's Eve before.

I drove in today -- got there at 6:30, because my cat would not let me sleep, so I decided to just get up and start the day. I can't even describe what a yowl he has, and of course he talks at night, because that's his daytime. I'll bet anything it's the reason he ended up without a home. Well, I'm sticking with him, but I sure hope he gets quieter.

Went to the library yesterday and checked out the movie Birdman, though I don't know when I'll watch it. Maybe this weekend.

The winter concert was great. I sat in the front row and had a good view of my grandson. I could even hear him play. He gets better and better. The orchestra struggled a bit to keep tempo, but they were pretty good, especially considering they tackled some challenging music. I can hardly wait for the spring concert!

Today's menu:

Breakfast: Raspberry scone
Lunch: Pizza, clementines
Dinner: Greek yogurt

    How's the Anne Tyler, CB?
That one is on my list.

Seventy-seven doesn't sound like a lot but given the non-holidays remaining, it will be like working a full time job again. Push through! Also, I am interested in reading what you thought about the movie Birdman.

    Yay about getting paid!!

I'm sure you've already thought about this/tried it ... but have you tried playing with new cat/tiring him out right before you go to bed? Is he fixed?

EC - I just finished the Anne Tyler. She is one of my favorites, and this book did not disappoint! I think she just gets better.

Steph - I know 77 doesn't sound like a lot. When I worked full-time for a salary, though, I took breaks, went to meetings, socialized with others, and did other little tasks to break the monotony. I am doing nothing but straight research and writing during these work hours as a contractor, and it's very tiring. In good conscience, I cannot charge the museum for my mental breaks, but I still need them or my brain will fry!

Birdman is such a great movie! I hope you enjoy it Smile I'm curious as well if your kitty is fixed. I've never heard of a cat yowling through the night for any other reason than being in heat - but I'm also no vet. heh. Hopefully after he transitions a bit, it will get better.

Sorry about your kitty yowling at night. Hope you can get that resolved.

Sorry about the many days. It sounds like tedious work and I would say you need brain breaks.

Yes, he's fixed. I've never had a yowler like this, and I've owned a number of cats through the years. My guess is that he is insecure; my understanding is that he's been moved around a lot and also spent time in a crate on death row. But you'd think he would recognize he's got it good now!

I like your idea, Laura, but I think I'd get tired before he would!
