Another Snow Dump

March 14th, 2017 at 12:55 pm

I woke up to another snow dump this morning. I'm staying in and it looks like a lot of others have decided to do the same thing. The cars parked up and down the street look like marshmallows.

Kind of regret I'm missing free bagel day at Planet Fitness, but caution is winning over cheapness! Anyway, I have bagels in the freezer. I'll nuke one for breakfast in honor of free bagel day. Smile

I got a reminder call from the nurse making the home visit, so, as of last night at least, she is still planning on making the visit.

I made the chicken french fry casserole yesterday, and it was pretty good! It yielded four servings, so I'll have another one today and freeze the other two.

Diary update -- I typed up two months yesterday. Mom is still dating the same guy -- they are driving all over the place in his "roadster." They went to Mammoth Caves and the Indiana dunes. Uncle is home from the hospital, improving daily. Mom is starting to worry that there may be a war in Europe. She was appalled by a terrible hurricane in New England. (I thought she must have got that wrong, but it's true; there WAS a terrible hurricane in New England in 1938!) I keep stopping and looking up places she mentions, especially restaurants. Some of them still exist, in some form. I will try to visit them in the future. One of them -- Nashville House in Nashville, Indiana, I HAVE visited! (I loved their fried biscuits and apple butter.) Yes, I think a sentimental journey is in the future.

That hurricane was family lore. The Connecticut River flooded up to the second floor of the apartment building where my grandparents and father lived.
These blogs will make good future diaries , I hope.

    Very interesting.

I did a very similar thing after seeing multiple references my mother wrote on the back of old childhood photos of "Patterson Mountains."

My dad and I drove out there as he was quite familiar with it; he said it was where everyone went to "make out." It's still a reservation of sorts with a main drive-through road and numerous rest areas where you can get out and enjoy a view or take a hike or ride a horse.

We even passed a stone structure of some sort that my mother had taken pictures of 50 years ago climbing on top of it with her friends!

Glad you stayed in and stayed safe!

I like your idea of a sentimental journey. And now, thanks to you, that silly song is stuck in my head! Yikes! Smile

Yes--I love the sentimental journey idea too!
Driving was ok here today--but very cold wind.

Neat idea! My parents lived all over the place, so it'd take a lot of travel for me to do the same thing.
