My only spending today was lunch at IHOP with the boys. I wasn't going to spend anything today, but here's how it went. While I was at their music lesson, I was cleaning out my bag and came across the IHOP groupon I purchased some time ago. I was running out of time to use it at full value, but it was for an IHOP that is pretty far away -- a city I never go to, well over an hour away. (At the time of purchase I thought it was for any IHOP.) So I thought I would stop at the IHOP that is on the way home from the music teacher's and just ask if there was any way they would honor it. Well, of course, no. But the manager said he would give me a 20% discount just for asking. The boys' faces lit up, and so we had lunch. It was $24, including tip.

I'm babysitting again tomorrow, and it has to be a no-spend day! At least it will be a shorter day, so easier to keep the boys occupied.

My DIL says she will reimburse me, but my feeling is that I should pay for stuff that is my idea. If she asks me to take them somewhere -- sure, she can pay. But not for things that are my choice.
