Going to buy a Christmas tree

November 10th, 2011 at 01:31 am

Last year my grandson looked at my tiny Christmas tree and said, "I think you need a bigger tree." So today I see on the Michael's flyer that they are selling 4-foot pre-lit artificial trees for $19.99, marked down from $69.99. Plus, they have a 25% off coupon that can be used on sale items. The coupon isn't good until Friday, so I'll go down then, hoping that they still have the Christmas trees. well, I'll call first.

If I get the bigger tree, I'll bring my tiny tree into work; it'll cheer me up.

Not much other financial news. I paid a whopping $2.68 medical bill today, putting it on my FlexPro card. The medical bills are definitely tapering off. Since I put a lot of them on Discover, I still have a lean month ahead, but it's good to know the end is in sight.

I got a coupon for free milk at Aldi, so I'll get a few things there this weekend. I like Aldi, but I don't shop there often because I like to use my credit card. They only take cash or a debit card, which kind of messes up my routine.

I also have a bunch of coupons for Jewel that will expire soon. I hope that some of the items will also be on sale -- that's when I really like to use coupons!

    Good job!

We bought two trees in January (I think we replaced the old one this year in January - maybe we haven't even used that one yet. I remember buying the last one in January 2000 - we always buy homes and close about Christmas - so I remember buying it for our new home after Christmas). But I was at Michael's this week too - great sales and coupons!! & nice not having to wait until AFTER Xmas.

Enjoy your new tree! I'm using the one my parents bought in the late 1980's. It is still in really good shape and much fuller than most trees are today. It is nice to keep something like that in use for so long. And all the money I've saved because I didn't buy a real tree every year.

We have always had an artificial tree except for a year or two when the girls begged for a "real" tree. A couple of years ago we invested in a beautiful pre-lit one that we just love. Some people give us crap about how you have to have the "smell" of Christmas that you can only get with a real tree....I say baloney! I have plenty of candles and scentsy warmers to make our house smell wonderful without a live tree. Enjoy!

I love the Flex cards and really miss them, it leads to a much handier experience in dealing with the account. Are you able to use yours for insurance copays and the like, as well? That (plus pharmaceuticals) is when they are really excellent...

Yes I can use mine for copays and pharmacy. However, my card hasn't been swiping properly at the pharmacy so I need to get that checked out.
