The raise that wasn't

November 5th, 2010 at 07:19 pm

The good news is ... my boss told me I will get a 2-3% raise in January. This was unexpected, as I already got a raise at the beginning of the fiscal year.

The bad news is, I probably won't see it in my paycheck. I officially switched to the PPO from the HMO and so will pay a bigger premium (and premiums went up 15% anyway). But I'm happy to leave the HMO behind. HMO's are great if you don't get sick or hurt yourself. Smile

Also, I agreed to raise my monthly payroll deduction into the Annual Fund from $10 to $25. Since I am in the business of raising money, one of the easiest ways is to be a donor myself. Wish I could do more, but as you all know, I don't have a lot to spare.

So my guess is that my paycheck will actually be lower. But I am okay with that. I feel good about my choices.

We have switched to donating while our budget settles down with me not working. Our favorite animal shelter opened a store close to us, so I have been cleaning out stuff from our house and donating. I need to make my house as easy as possible to clean and getting rid of superflous stuff helps. Killing 2 birds with 1 stone so to speak! We were spending cash at Costco each month buying dog/cat food, etc.
