A Nice Surprise

August 20th, 2014 at 02:46 pm

Last night I went home, ate dinner, watched TV, and after about 45 minutes of toodling around finally noticed that the shades in the dining room had magically been hung on the windows! My DIL popped over during the day and did that! What a nice surprise, and the difference it makes in the dining room is amazing. No more glaring sun in the late afternoon!

I got a free tomato from a co-worker yesterday, so I had a tomato sandwich for dinner. The rest I chopped up, and today for lunch I will combine it with some salad greens, leftover steak fajita and salsa. I love using up bits and pieces like that.

I had a big meeting yesterday and work is heating up again. I am able to pretty much take it in stride, with so little time on the clock, and other irons in the fire. The drama seems pretty inconsequential. Nice to be able to look at it that way.

This morning I was in a deep sleep when the alarm went off, so I couldn't get going as quickly as I should have. I drove to the train station, to see if I could park quickly and catch the train, but no such luck. Not a single parking place. I drove. I also got a McDonalds breakfast on the way - $4. It is getting harder to wake up now that the mornings are darker; I'm just going to have to push myself.

Unfortunately I will have to drive again on Friday, so I can go to the dentist. That will also make it possible for me to go to the alumni dinner that evening, so I guess I will.

Students are moving in today. The campus is busy. Our sleepy summer is over!
