The Heat is ON!

September 17th, 2014 at 03:08 pm

Finally, my building turned on the heat. I put my hand on the registers this morning, and felt warmth. Oh, joy! Last night I came home an hour early, not feeling well, and went straight to bed under a nest of blankets. I slept straight through, and I feel much better this morning! Almost human!

It is still cold at work, however. I can't wait for the forecasted warm-up.

Yesterday would have been a no-spend day, but I bought caramel corn at the station. It is very hard to ignore when I am feeling stressed, or down, or hungry! The smell permeates the building. It is irresistible. I will have to be stronger.

The job I have been nattering on about has finally been posted, so now I have the task of making the official application. The resume is done, but I have to fill out the application, write a cover letter and submit a writing sample as well. The job description is very intimidating -- I would never apply had I not been asked!

    Where are you living now? My building finally turned on the heat a couple of days ago and I was dying until they did. I'm originally from South Florida, so the change in temperature really came as a shock in the winter moving to Chicago.

    Here's an interesting article about men/women applying for jobs based on job descriptions/qualifications that I thought of when I read your last comment!

    I've bumped our heat on a couple of mornings this week, but then back off the rest of the day. Sleep is a super healing machine!!

    Slurpee, I am in a Chicago suburb. You must have been really shocked if you moved here last winter! It was brutal!

    Its 88 degrees in Texas! I think we still have a while before we even have to think about heaters. Smile

    I wish we could turn off the AC! Crazy hot here.

    My dh's bff moved to Chicago for a couple of years - his first winter was last year. Watching the news, we felt for him. But he was so blasé about it! Just like, "Yeah, sure it gets a little cold." Actually, I think what he said was the utilities are included in rent so they just cranked up the heat and it was no big deal. HA! {I would DIE!}

    I'm on the east coast and we still have our AC on, but it's starting to get chillier. I savor every warm day we get!

    We had a chilly, damp weekend and refused to turn on the heat. It has gotten warmer so far with a warm up this weekend.

    I'm in NE and haven't turned the heat on yet. We did have one chilly day, but it still was warm inside.
