Mother's Day

May 12th, 2019 at 07:25 pm

Well, I'm catching up quite late in the day! I had a nice Mother's Day, with the boys making brunch for the girls. It actually turned out very well, and I brought home some leftover bacon, fruit and chips!

It was kind of a sad day, too, because my algae eater died. What really bothered me was that he was suffering and I couldn't help him, and he just struggled so long. Eventually he was at peace. He was too big for my tank and I'm sure that contributed to his death. But I'm relieved because now I don't have to worry about getting a bigger tank for him. I have 6 small fish left, and they have plenty of room.

I talked to my cousin on the phone and learned that she had eye surgery and may eventually be blind in one eye. That made me sad, too. Her sister had sent me a panicky message that she needed my help -- she actually just needed someone to talk to. She is in good spirits and pretty accepting about the outcome, whatever it turns out to be.

No financial news, really, except that my son & DIL gave me a gift certificate for a haircut and "gloss." If a gloss turns out to be hair color I'm going to turn it down. I'm not willing to deal with roots again. But if it's just a temporary enhancement, that's fine.

I had planned to get a haircut on Friday but didn't do it -- now I'm glad, since it will be free!
