Parking Costs

August 24th, 2019 at 04:54 am

I sat in the doctor's office for more than an hour just to pick up the kit for colon cancer screening. I thought they could just hand it to me, but I had to sign in at the lab and wait my turn before they could look at my record and determine which kit I needed. They were crazy busy. I can't understand why they couldn't have it ready for me; seems like a poor way to handle it. Last time it was mailed to me, but I guess they've changed their policy.

So, because it took so long, my car was sitting in the parking garage beyond the free-first-hour limit, and I had to pay $2 to get out.

Then I went to the library. There was an open space right by the front door, but it was metered. I couldn't tell if there was time on the meter, so I put in a quarter. Still couldn't see any time, so it was a quarter wasted. This was all very frustrating at a time when I am trying so hard not to spend anything.

I spent the rest of the day at home. I'm binge-watching Orange is the New Black, as well as reading.

I took care of the colon kit this morning and I'll send it back today. I have to say, aside from the frustration in picking it up, this process is SO MUCH EASIER than getting a colonoscopy. I've had three of those -- despite being in a low-risk group -- and I am so grateful that we have this option now.

I didn't do laundry yesterday and decided I would just wait till pay day. It will pile up, but I have plenty of clothes. Forestalling that will make me feel better about the unexpected parking charges.

Four days till pay day. I will just lay low till then, as much as I can.
