Now FlexPro doesn't want to pay

September 28th, 2011 at 02:02 pm

I am getting so tired of medical runarounds. I have promptly paid every bill that's been sent to me, and still there is hassle.

I got an email from FlexPro saying I had to send them an EOB statement for the whopping $14.10 I charged to their card. Uh, it's from Adventist Health System. Do they think I bought candy there? I wonder if this is going to happen for every charge I made. Why do they even issue a credit card if you have to send documentation for everything?

Well, for the last three days I have not received a new bill, so that's something.

I was supposed to go to a library book discussion last night, but when push came to shove, I just wanted to stay home. Maybe I will enjoy that sort of outing more when I am not working. Instead I watched the last episode of "Downton Abbey" on Netflix. I am really enjoying that series, but it stopped with Episode 7, clearly right in the middle. I have to find out how to see more. Maybe the library has it.

Looks like this weekend's grocery shopping will be at Wal-Mart. I need to fill a prescription, and so far I have no food items on my list other than wine, which isn't a necessity.

I HAVE THE ANSWER!! And sorry it is NOT the one you want to hear. I actually own a flex plan company. It is an IRS requirement that the flex company asks for substantiation for all purchases which are not copays, basically. I know it doesn't make logical sense and we hate the ruling too, but it's the way it is. Beth

Thanks! That helps. I'll be prepared for more love letters from them!

CB. We truly do hate that IRS ruling...yet another government meddling which only complicates things. We don't like that ruling because it makes our flex participants and employers hate us. Also, how crazy is it to request substanciation from a medical office. Go figure. In the meantime, keep all receipts.

Yes, that is true, they do require documention for everything....just to make sure you aren't using those dollars for something they don't cover.

What a pain. I know what you are going through, having dealt with a lot of the same stuff over the last 8 years.

Downton Abbey is on PBS. Perhaps your local station is rebroadcasting the ones you've missed.

Thanks, Baselle. I looked up Downton Abbey today and learned that I'll have to wait till January for the new episodes; I didn't realize it was still in production. Great show.
