If you've read my blog at all, you already know that Corner Bakery is one of my favorites.

Well, today they proved that they have great customer service, too!

I got an email coupon for a free dessert since this is my birthday month. But when I printed it off, only the border and the logo printed -- none of the actual meat of the coupon. But there was a barcode, and I thought, what the heck, it's worth a try.

I went to the counter and explained and showed them the coupon. It was morning rush time and they were busy, but the supervisor took the time to look at the coupon, listen to what I had to say, then politely asked if I could pull it up on my phone. I told her I didn't have that kind of phone, and she told the cashier to just go ahead get me what I wanted. So I got my free muffin. I bought some coffee to go with it for $2. I can't believe how nice they were about it!

In other good news, when I was throwing out trash I found a book sitting in the dumpster. It was right at the top, so I didn't have to dive. I'm not much of a dumpster diver, but I will take clean stuff in easy reach. This was a book by Gregory Maquire, author of Wicked (which I loved). It's based on the Cinderella story -- can't remember the title right now. But I'm delighted! It's in great condition, just a little shopworn! And yes, it appears to be clean; no nasty stuff on it.

I've decided not to renew my parking pass at work. It's $100 per year. I don't drive enough to make it worth while. There is a free lot a couple of blocks away, and I will get my free pass so I can use that. The lot is no farther away than the train station is -- and I understand there is even shuttle service, though I'm sure it is not very often!
