$5 from Swagbucks

January 5th, 2014 at 02:35 pm

I just redeemed a $5 Amazon gift card from Swagbucks, my first snowflake of the year!

We have a lot of new snow on the ground, and the temperature is going down again. I would like to stay in all day, but I may have to move the car. Make that, probably have to move the car. I'm parked on an even side of the street and it's an odd day. It's Sunday, but I don't think that matters.

I have the makings for Hawaiian pork over rice, and I texted my son to let him know I'm offering it for lunch or dinner today. No reply yet. Since he is just a block away, it would be no problem to walk over there and make it, even in a snow emergency!

I think I may bake cookies or something later in the day. There is no radiator in the kitchen, so it's always good to have something in the oven on these cold days! I think I'll make oatmeal cranberry cookies, so they can serve as breakfast cookies.

Everybody stay warm!

Terrific plan to bake on these cold, snowy days. I've 2 small muffin tins in the oven and a large muffin tin waiting of banana breakfast muffins to sub for breakfast, takeaway or late afternoon snack when dinner will be after 7 pm. breakfast cookies are a brilliant takeaway for commuting. how wonderful to have son nearby and able to join you for dinner. our DSs didn't make it home for the holidays and we miss them horribly. Each chose to stay in Kingston (college) with more PT hours, nearby GFs, saving $ 1,000. Flight in high season I and work on their independent study project. Sadly, I guess they made the right decision since the weather is ghastly, flights cancelled, roads slick and a myriad of problems in the east.

I also live in metro Chicago but am retired so I am spending a LOT of time hibernating. I have used more gasoline moving my car for odd/even parking in the past month than for going anywhere or doing anything.

Thinking of making cranberry muffins since a local fruit market had cranberries on sale 3 pkg for $1. Will definatly be having soup tonight for dinner.
