A Cold Friday

February 7th, 2014 at 02:31 pm

Well, the temperature is no higher, but I went to work today. I have a meeting; can't do that remotely.

I needed to move the car for plowing and was planning to drive closer to the station. However, it was so bone-chilling cold that I opted instead to drive all the way to work. No way was I getting back out in the cold again.

I'll get cheap gas tonight and use a coupon for a free Chick Fil-A for dinner. And I'll go to the Goodwill to check for a dress for my niece's wedding.

I did two loads of laundry yesterday while I was home. I also emptied and scrubbed out the cats' litter box, and put in some new litter -- it's called Nature's Miracle Easy Care Crystal. It is supposed to absorb urine instead of clumping. It's odor-free, dust-free and doesn't track. I do have to scoop out the poop, and it has to be completely changed every two weeks. My son highly recommends it. It's more expensive, but if it does everything it's supposed to do, it's worth it. I'm sick to death of the smell, the dust, and particles all over the house. Since I'm in a small place, I can't get very far away from the litter box.

Yeah, our windchill was about 20 vs. 28, so we made the decision to go out. My legs were prickling by the end of the 12-minute walk to daycare, but I soon thawed out.

Any other winter, this would have been one of the colder days and I would have stayed in. But this winter, I don't have the luxury since there have been so many days at these temps.

Oh, and let me know how the litter works out -- especially in the tracking department. Especially when our cat is dealing with one of his many UTIs, our place just gets disgusting with chunks of litter that he tracks all over. (We use "World's Best," which we like because it's flushable -- but I'd give up flushability if he tracked less grit over the floor.)

I've tried "World's Best" and the cats tracked it all over the place. I'll let you know how Nature's Miracle works out.

When it's that cold, I can't imagine you're getting much fresh air in; that new litter sounds a winner!
