Nice!

February 26th, 2014 at 03:44 pm

I did a survey for LinkedIn this morning that paid $5. Then I checked the Discover site and found $169.73 in cash back rewards! $150 of that is the bonus for spending more than $750.

It's a deep freeze again, and yesterday I thought I might work from home today. However, I have a meeting, and anyway, it's so frustrating to work from home because the connection to my work computer is always kicking me out.

I was very tempted to drive today so I could skip the cold walk, but I knew I would have to fill the tank if I drove. So I walked to the station, and it really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I must be getting hardened to this!

Sometimes that's what frugality is all about. Just doing things you don't feel like doing, but that pay off in the long run. I'm going to get through this month without spending any more! I've spent $312 instead of $300 in my challenge, but I'm not going to say "I failed" and stop trying. I'm going to keep it at $312, by golly.

Last night I went to Physical Therapy, and took the train instead of driving. That's just a little savings, as it wouldn't take much gas, but I've already paid for the train ticket, so every ride I take is a "free" ride.

I walked around Barnes & Noble while killing time for the next train, and I didn't see a thing that tempted me.

My knee is better, my hip is worse. My therapist says this is common, since it's all related by muscle and nerves. The key is to make my hip muscles stronger. I'm doing exercises, and I have to learn to walk differently. I can't "mince." I have to stride, and push off with my heel. That will be easier when the ground isn't covered with ice. Smile

My son called me yesterday to let me know he was driving to a promising interview in Atlanta. I am SO hopeful that this will work out. It sounds like a perfect fit for his skills, and we would all be happy with the location. It's closer than Florida, and he would still be in a temperate climate!

Nice job on everything! We were tempted to take a cab today, but it was -23 windchill, and we sort of decided that -25 is our cutoff. So we walked to daycare and then took buses to work. Saved anywhere from $10 to $20 in cab rides.

Tomorrow still looks like it'll be a cab day, but I'm proud that we saved this little amount of money!
