Life goes on

January 10th, 2008 at 01:49 pm

Thank you to everyone who sent such kind words to me upon the loss of my brother. I am back home now. The funeral and the coming together of family was very healing. I am looking at everything in a new way now, knowing that I should take nothing for granted. Ironically, I am appreciating life more.

After I got home, I spent a few days reorganizing my files. It was a huge task, because when I moved, several boxes were dropped and the files spilled out. Also, I had files dating back to the 80's. I threw away TONS of paper. But now I am ready for tax season.

My resolutions: Besides blogging more frequently, I have resolved to eat healthier (that's a new one, isn't it?) and exercise more (ditto). I'm going to keep up on my filing now that my files are so neat. I'm also going to do monthly resolutions.

For January, I am resolved to spend nothing that is not necessary. With all my traveling in November and December, and the funeral in January, my finances are a wreck. I need to do some catching up.

Once again, thank you. You are such good friends.

Glad that you are back also.

Something that I'm resolved to do for the healthy eating part is to go to the store and buy the healthy food that I say I want to eat. If it is in the refrig and cut up, I'm more likely to eat it. Just being prepared ahead of time helps.

Congrats on getting your files done. That is a big job.

files? You had to mention them...geee, mine are piled up and fat because I haven't cleaned them out in a couple of years!! Maybe if I just clean out the ones I'm using as I get them out would be somewhat helpful.

Glad you are back with us. Good luck w/your monthly resolution.

To Lux's comments: I agree with you about the files. I think I'm going to readopt the FlyLady's day called Wednesday (Antiprocrastination Day). It's a day that you choose to do one project that you have been putting off. When I was doing this, I was getting rid of a lot of little things that were annoying me because I put them off. One was going to Walgreens with an old negative and making a couple of photos that I had promised to give to someone. Just having a day for this is great. I normally get everything ready the night before so that I have no excuses for not getting it started. Once it is started, I normally finish it.

Aleta-I do Anti-procrastiantion Wednesday ALSO!! Smile I do one thing at work (this wednesday it was reducing my filing stack by 1/2) and one thing at home (I moved the furniture back into the bedroom after cleaning the carpet in there on Monday). I am a big procrastinator if left unchecked.

I need to work on my files also. maybe I will do that next Wednesday Smile

Oh, wow, files. Mine were packed for hurricane season last year and never updated. Sheesh. Glad you are home safe and sound!
