Ancestry.com and Panera

March 9th, 2021 at 04:41 pm

Yesterday my ancestry.com subscription hit my Discover card.  Every year I forget about this!  It's not cheap.  $189.  But I have a huge family tree on the site and I don't know how to disengage without losing that information.

This morning I went to Panera and got the baker's dozen bagel special, along with three containers of cream cheese.  $11 for quite a few breakfasts in the future.

Those two expenditures took variables to 47% quite early in the month.  Yikes!

I don’t know if this applies to you, but when I wasn’t very active on Ancestry, I downgraded from a World membership to a US only membership. All my data saved. I couldn’t see underlying documents on non US databases but they were still there. A few months ago I picked it up again and went back and filled in new information.

I did the downgrade via phone and it was very easy and I believe credited the same day.

You can cancel your membership, and they will not delete your tree. You may not be able to view it without the membership, or not view the associated documents....but it will not be lost. I've joined and cancelled several times at this point. It just picks up where I left off.

Thanks! It's good to know the tree would not be deleted if I let it go. I have only ever had the US membership, but if I ever really get back into it I should get the world membership, as most of my lines have gone back as far as they can go in the US. But not now.
