Here the month is half over and I'm just now thinking of posting my June recap. I've been distracted. Let's blame the heat.
June was kind of a high-spend month. I paid the balance of my gift to my unemployed son. He is not unemployed at the moment, but he took a lowly position that he hopes he will not have to keep. It's in a casino. It doesn't pay much and the hours are terrible. But it's a job. He had a phone interview today for a job in his field, and I am hoping so hard that an offer will come. He's really been through the wringer.
My service deal with Best Buy renewed, as well as my subscription to Webroot. There were several days of vacation costs that wrapped around from late May to early June. Gas was higher than usual. Groceries remained pretty low, at $88. I think I've really learned how to buy efficiently for one.
In other financial news, I cancelled Xfinity. Yes, I cut the cord. I am depending on streaming for my entertainment and information. I haven't realized savings yet, but they will show up next month.
My building's HOA voted for a special assessment to upgrade electricity. This will add $145 to my assessment fees for the coming 12 months. Hasn't been withdrawn yet. I'm sorry about the cost but glad the issue is being addressed. I cannot, for instance, ever run the air conditioner at the same time as running the vacuum or the dishwasher. Just can't be done, the fuse blows immediately. It will be good to put an end to that. Plus, it will be safer.
Hot weather has been mind-blowing, as I am sure the next electric bill will be. I have high hopes there will be rain tonight that will break the current heat wave. It's only July, though! Sigh.
